Cape Brewing Company beers, South Africa

IMG_6594 The Cape Brewing Company is a relatively new craft producer based in the Paarl region of South Africa. They began in 2012 with brewer Wolfgang Koedel at the helm. The founders include winemaker and entrepreneur Charles Back, along with Henrik Dunge and Andy Kung. The beers, which I tried at a bar in Franschhoek, are pretty solid, with the Amber Weiss the star (there’s also a note on this from bottle).

Here’s a note on a bottled product:

Cape Brewing Co Amber Weiss
5.4% alcohol
Really fruity and tangy with a strong citrus drive, some sweet malty hints and bitter hoppiness adding interest. Complex and engaging. 8/10
